Playful and Practical covers the rooms a Chappaqua family of four uses hardest and photographs least. The mudroom sits at the garage door, the laundry room a few stairs up, and the playroom and its bathroom above that. One blue-green base runs the whole route and changes as it climbs, from denim casework to celadon cabinets to glazed tile, with pink and red as the pops.

That cohesion took custom color lighting, workroom shades and pillows, upholstery in colors that are not stock, and cabinetry I designed for these walls. Ordering every piece in the right color is most of what you are hiring a designer for.
